Welcome To Ryun Livestock

Welcome to our growing family ranch located in the Prairie Pothole Region of North Dakota.  After a few relocations, some changes in our program, and a growing family, we are back on our own place and ready to move forward.   Ryun Livestock is owned and operated by Jacob & Kristine Ryun along with their 4 young children - all of which are becoming great hands!

When this all started, the original focus was in producing quality, performance Appaloosa horses with excellent personalities, beautiful conformation, athletic ability, and the distinguishing factor of an Appaloosa...color!  However, with the arrival of the kids - and their growing interest in horses, it became apparent we needed to change our focus a bit and start keeping back some of these awesome mounts we were raising and selling.  While we will still raise some foals, most will be retained for our own use on the ranch and in the show pen.  Our horses are true all-around athletes, in other words, horses that posess both the mind and movement to excel in many disciplines - both on the rail and off. We proudly own Silver Medallion earner, Straws Mighty Magnum, the only double registered, proven Gold Champange Appaloosa stallion currently out there.  Our focus still remains on producing a quality performance prospect that will withstand the test of time and be a life-long partner.

Another change was the addition of the cattle.  We have a  growing commercial herd of black Angus and Angus cross cattle. We currently have own sons of SAV Bismark 5682 and Sitz Upward 307R as our herd bulls.  We are enjoying raising our own replacement heifers and hope to have a herd of all home-raised mother cows within a few short years.  With our cattle, we strive for a maternal mother cow that is easy to handle and produces a healthy calf with good natural weight gain each year. Our cattle are hardy and efficient with moderate size.

Ryun Livestock was formally known as Still Seeing Spots Appaloosas.  Throughout that time, we relocated a few times due to Jacob's active duty status with the United States Air Force. Originally located in Wisconsin, we moved to Alaska and Illinois before settling in North Dakota after Jacob left active duty in 2009 and joined the North Dakota Air National Guard. We spent a couple years on a quiet cattle ranch nestled in the North Dakota badlands before moving to our current location in May 2012.

We hope you enjoy a brief ranch tour as you explore our website.
